Applicant Selection: Avoid Issues of Perceived Favoritism

We pre-screen all applicants to ensure they meet all scholarship requirements. Skilled and experienced volunteers review and score applications based on a defined common rubric. Recommend award recipients and amounts based on an annual gifting amount your organization determines in advance. Provide unbiased selection of award recipients and transparency throughout the entire process.

Recipient Notifications: Keep the Communication Lines Open

Scholars are encouraged to communicate with us regularly- we are here to help them achieve their goals. Clearly relay program deadlines and timeline, provide detailed instructions, encourage applicants to ask questions and provide easily accessible and friendly customer service to applicants and their family members.

Awards Payment: Money Sent Directly to the Institution

Maintain detailed records of each applicant and award disbursed; we handle all payment transactions. Manage your fund throughout the year to account for deferrals, reissues and unused funds. Verify funding criteria such as school eligibility, academic enrollment, account status and student expenses.

Unmatched Gratitude

"I have a strong feeling that this will be a great year. I feel incredibly fortunate to have received this scholarship, as it has been an invaluable opportunity for me. This Al bootcamp has been instrumental in shaping my academic aspirations. It opened my eyes to start a Bachelor's degree in Data Science, which was newly introduced this year 2025 by Arizona State University. Thank you once again for your support and dedication."

"I wanted to thank you for the opportunity to be included in this scholarship. I am truly grateful for the chance to further my education because of the donations of the members towards the scholarships. I don't know if I'll have the opportunity to thank the donors personally, but l'd like to thank you for encouraging me to apply for this scholarship and for guiding me through the application process. I appreciate the fact that with the help of these donors' selfless acts, I have the opportunity to continue going to school and major in the degree I need to get for my dream job. I couldn't do it without you! I wish you a great holiday, take care! Thank you for your time!"

About Desert Scholarship Foundation

In 2016, Desert Scholarship Foundation was formed to administer and manage customized scholarship programs to advance our community's greatest asset—its people!

Each scholarship fund operates under the umbrella of Desert Scholarship Foundation’s IRS tax exemption and 501(c)(3) designation. We keep scholarship funds separate from all others managed by our organization- ensuring every dollar donated is gifted to the people each donor wants to help.

Desert Scholarship Foundation also manages the scholarship grant process from start to finish:

  • Determine annual eligibility criteria and score applications based on the customized criteria and a variety of information collected from each student such as letters of recommendation, grades, extracurricular involvement and future plans.
  • Provide an objective and non-discriminatory application review and award determination process which includes analyzing each student’s financial aid package.
  • Programs designed to eliminate unmet need, or the gap between a student’s costs and financial resources for school.

Students can apply for scholarships towards junior college, two or four-year college, trade school or certificate programs or vocational-technical schools in the United States wherein a degree or certificate of completion can be earned. Many of our partners also support programs that help with other educational pursuits such adult education towards High School and General Education Development diplomas, learning English as a second language and providing back-to-school supplies for students in Kinder through 12th grade.
